Cavity wall insulation
If your home was built after the mid-1930s it is likely your property has cavity walls. Making sure the cavity between the two external walls is insulated is one of the best ways to make your home more energy efficient. It can save you up to £110 a year on your fuel bill and cut your home's carbon emissions by almost one tonne.
How is cavity wall insulation installed?Cavity wall insulation is installed completely from outside your home. The installation team will need to be able to park their vehicle as near to your home as possible to ensure the machinery can blow the material into the cavity. The installer will require access to your home to check flues and air vents before the work is carried out.
After the insulant has been injected, the holes are made good to match the existing finish of the brickwork as closely as possible and air vents are checked for any blockages.
All work carried out will receive an independent 25-year Cavity Insulation Guarantee.
In order to carry out the insulation work, it may be necessary for access equipment or additional measures, such as scaffolding, walkways and ventilation. These costs may be charged at our standard rates and you will be advised of the costs at the time of the survey.

Loft insulation
Insulating your loft ensures that the heat rising in your home stays inside rather than escaping through the roof. This will keep your home warmer, as well as help you to save up to £145 on your annual fuel bill.
How much loft insulation should be fitted? The Government recommend that a loft should have 270mm (10 inches) of insulation; if your loft was insulated a number of years ago it is worth topping it up to this amount. Costs for loft insulation may vary depending on the size of your property and for lofts that are already part insulated with between 60mm and 100mm of insulation. This is due to energy suppliers offering a larger grant towards installing insulation which provides more energy savings.
How is the loft insulation installed? In the average home loft insulation usually takes about two hours to install and there is very little mess. The fitters carry sealed rolls of material into your roof space, and then roll it out between the joists, followed by another layer overlaid across the joists. New insulation will be laid over any existing material you have in your loft. The surveyor will advise you if you need any additional ventilation in your loft. Your loft hatch will be draught-proofed.
Please be aware that you may not be able to store items in your loft after the work has been carried out as the insulation material will cover the joists. It will be your responsibility to arrange for a suitable storage platform to be constructed above the insulation if required.
Any water pipes will be insulated with pipe lagging at the time of the installation. If there is a cold water storage tank in your loft, the contractor will ensure that it too is adequately insulated.
