As part of the RE:NEW London-wide energy saving initiative for homes, London Warm Zone is working with councils across East London to show people where their home is losing energy and what you can do to stop it.

The Home Energy Check is currently available in limited areas and right now we are covering:

  • The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham – Heath and Village wards
  • The London Borough of Hackney – Leabridge and Springfield wards
  • The London Borough of Newham – Little Ilford and Green Street East wards
  • The London Borough of Redbridge – Church End and Snaresbrook wards
  • The London Borough of Waltham Forest – Lea Bridge ward

RE:NEW is a London-wide energy saving initiative from the Mayor of London aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions. All London councils have received grant funding from the Mayor of London to help people find out how they could save energy at home.

The East London councils work with London Warm Zone, which is a not-for-profit organisation, to provide the RE:NEW programme locally.

RE:NEW is being offered to residents within defined areas, regardless of property type or tenure and everyone taking part will get:

  • A free home energy check of their home.
  • Some easy-to-install measures worth up to £75 that will help you save around £200 on your energy bills.
    • easy to use energy monitor
    • energy saving standby switches
    • water saving showerhead
    • water saving tap inserts
    • garden hose gun
  • Advice from a qualified energy advisor about how simple changes to your behaviour could save energy.
  • Free or substantially discounted loft and cavity wall insulation from a London Warm Zone approved insulation contractor
  • A home energy report informing you of how you could make further energy efficiency improvements to your home and the financial help available with grants, discounts and low cost loans.
  • The opportunity to have a benefit and tax credit check to make sure that you are claiming all you are entitled to, as this may help you receive free energy efficiency improvements, such as loft and cavity wall insulation.

RE:NEW is a partnership between the London Development Agency, Greater London Authority (GLA), London Councils, the Energy Saving Trust and the 33 London Boroughs. The Mayor of London is committed to reducing carbon emissions from the capital, which will help Londoners save money on their energy bills.
